Are You Believing this Lie?
"Envy is a killer. Nothing will suck the life out of your heart faster than unhealthy comparison. "
Don’t despise small beginnings, waiting for the day you finally “arrive.”
One of the biggest lies you can believe is that what you’re doing now doesn’t matter.
You are part of a story much larger than the ministry you do. The truth is, each one of us has a small role in the grand scheme of things.

Lift up your eyes. You are part of God’s global mission to see people fall in love with Him, giving Him the worship He is due. You have a glorious job.

It’s great to look at other worship leaders and teams to glean from them and be challenged. But beware of your heart going from a healthy challenge into envious distraction. The minute that YouTube or Instagram video makes you feel uninspired about moving forward because you’re disgruntled or disappointed about how your situation isn’t measuring up to that other church or ministry—stop and run the opposite direction. Say a quick prayer of blessing for the person or ministry you were comparing yourself to (for real) and then get your focus back.

What’s God called you to build and do in your church, congregation, city, and team? That’s your focus. Thank God for what He’s given you. A grateful heart is key to growth.
Huge thanks to my friend Jordan Vanderplate for letting me use this photo of Banff National Park. Check out more of his work here.
