My brother's CD project

in

Check out my brother Jon's CD project. He's an amazing singer/songwriter and this CD has been a long time coming! Very excited for this project!

Silence

The past few weeks I’ve been purposefully drawing away from daily activities and making time to sit before Him in silence. The Lord speaks to us in many different ways; through His Word, sermons, worship songs, prophetic words and countless other ways. I’ve recently realized that many times I can get so consumed with studying, listening to sermons or even listening to worship music that I forget one of the most precious ways that God will speak; in silence.

My experience has been that it usually takes a bit of time to quiet the conversation or song that’s playing in my head, but then after a few minutes of just sitting and asking Him to help me focus my brain begins to clear. Sometimes I feel Him whispering to my heart. Sometimes I sense His presence. Other times I feel nothing and am so distracted that I eventually just give up! But after sitting in silence consistently for the past few weeks I’m now finding a longing inside of my heart to sit in silence more. There is something special about silence.

In LA again

Just got back Saturday night from another trip to Hollywood, CA where I ministered at Radiance International with my good friend Jonathan Ngai. I went to Radiance for the first time back in November and was invited back to help them kick of their Worship and creative arts internship. I also got to take my beautiful wife Naomi with me on this trip!

Days of Noah Musical CD recording

Spent the last four days in the studio recording the 18 songs I wrote for the Days of Noah Musical that we did back in November 2012. It was a great four days spending time with the amazing singers that we had on this show! I produced the album along with the amazing vocal arrangements of Nate Hunt who was the musical director on the show. It sounds amazing and I am excited for you to hear the final product!

Whether you were able to see the show or not I think you will really enjoy this CD. I think we’ve done the recording in such a way where you’ll still be able to follow the story and be impacted by these songs. The album will be available on iTunes as well as physical copies soon. We’re in post production now, then mixing and mastering. As soon as I get a release date I will let you know!

Days of Noah Musical Recap

Wow, this update is a little late seeing as the show ended back in November! Life got a little crazy for me with traveling, Christmas and New Years! (more on that in a post coming your way soon)

The As in the Days of Noah musical was so much fun to be a part of. It was the second musical that I helped co-write and wrote the songs for. The first was the From Patmos musical back in 2010. A new experience for me with this show was that I directed it as well. I definitely learned a lot, (most by trial and error :) and I would love to direct again in the future!

Trip to Israel (and Merry Christmas)

in

December was a busy month! After leaving KC on December 10th we had a slight detour with a 24 hour stay (or Delay) in NYC. After boarding our flight we arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel eleven hours later at 12pm and were a little late to our 3pm sound check. We spent the first night leading worship at the Day of Prayer of the Poor and Suffering held at the Jerusalem Pavilion. We were quite jet lagged but it was still a great time of prayer as leaders from many different nations gathered together to remember and pray for the poor and suffering in the earth.

Helpful meditation tips Part 2 - Transcribing

Transcribing
If you haven’t read part 1 of this post you should do that first here

Here’s how it works: as the team begins singing through a passage I have my computer open with a blank word document (you can use a pen and paper if you can write really fast and still have it be legible by the time you’re done – I canNOT do this : ). Write down every phrase that is spoken and sung by the worship team. For example if the team is singing through John1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,

Helpful meditation tips Part 1 - Experiencing the Word of God

Experiencing the Word of God
Whether you’re sitting in a prayer room or sitting alone in your bedroom praying there are many options of things we can do to help facilitate prayer and help us stay focused on the Lord. Journaling, sitting in silence, listening to worship music, intercession, praying with other people, and the list goes on and on. I want to add an option that I have found incredibly helpful to facilitate prayer in my heart.
